This staple works well except that the sound is very brash. This is easily cured in two possible ways. The first is to sweat on adhesive shrink wrap 8mm to the mid-section of the staple. The second method, and simplest is to wind the thread tightly all the way down to just short of the inboard rubber seal. Then seal the lower half of the wound section, i.e. below the reed itself, with PVA glue.

Seems pretty good
These staples seem good to me. I haven't had them long, but they seem to make good reeds and they fit in my oboe (a Buffet Crampon BC4062) very well, much better than most of the cork-covered ones I've used before.
I ordered "Abracadabra Oboe" (instruction book), which was to have come with 2 CDs. However, I received the version without CDs with instructions for downloading the tracks. I emailed Crook and Stable about this discrepancy but received no reply. I'm quite disappointed in the lack of response.
My first time buying Argento. Normally buy Marsden but they have been out of stock for a long time and delays when buying direct also. Argento had great reviews. Ordered two reeds - came in bright blue thread not the usual dark. One reed was fine after a bit of scraping. The other reed wasn't immediately playable so will keep forgetting emergency and scrape it at a later date.
Bought these instead of the C&S Pro which are out of stock. Was recommended them as a good substitute. They certainly are. Thanks very much. Looking forward to playing the finale of Tchaik Pathetique on it (2nd bassoon).
