The Windeler Bassoon Reed (BD2) is a German-made all-rounder bassoon reed with a warm, rounded Germanic sound. The BD2 is the standard Windeler model, suited to a wide range of playing situations from 1st bassoon and solo repertoire through to 2nd bassoon and section work.

The Windeler Germanic sound

Windeler reeds have been made for over fifty years, and the BD2 carries the house style: warm, full-bodied, rounded in the way the German bassoon school favours. It's responsive enough to be easy to pick up and play, and it holds together across the full dynamic range without thinning out at the top or losing focus at the bottom.

Hand-made in Germany

The Windeler range is hand-made in Germany by a maker trained in the original Windeler workshop. Cane and raw materials are handpicked, which is what gives the reeds their reputation for consistency and longevity. The BD2 is wrapped in red thread, distinguishing it from the BD3 (black thread, low-register-focused).
